The Horror! The Horror!

So apparently the last post I made was also about Halloween music... oh well. Here are some good Halloween / Fall / good scary mood music, and all from the 20th century (and no repeats from last year!)!

1) Debussy - "Voiles," (Sails / Veils), "Ce qu'a vu le vent d'ouest" (What the West Wind Saw) from Preludes Book I (1909-1910), and "Brouillards," (Mists), "Feuilles Mortes" (Dead Leaves) from Preludes Book II (1911-1913)
2) Bartok - "Allegro Barbaro" (1911)
3) Scriabin - "Poeme Satanique" (1904), "Poeme-Nocturne (1912), "Vers la Flamme" (1914)
4) De Falla - "Dance of Terror" from El Amor Brujo (1915)
5) Stravinsky - "The Devil's Song" from Histoire du Soldat (1918)
6) Ravel - Piano Concerto in D for Left Hand (1929-1930)
7) Shostakovich - String Quartet no. 8 in C minor (1960)
8) Penderecki - "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima" (1960)
9) Ligeti - "Lux Aeterna" (1966)
10) Crumb - "Black Angels" (1970), most pieces from Makrokosmos (1972)
